✓ AT A GLANCE

  • Madden 25 has a total of four game modes -Ultimate Team, Franchise, Superstar, and Online Head-to-Head (H2H)
  • Superstar mode is only available on current-gen consoles (PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC)
  • Certain features in Online H2H and Ultimate Team are only accessible through the current-gen version

Like its predecessors, Madden 25 has a few game modes you can play through to scratch that American football itch that College Football 25 can’t quite reach. As always, you can expect the typical popular modes, like Ultimate Team and Franchise. However, EA has added a few new features to each one, making every experience even more unique and enjoyable.

Here are all the game modes you can expect to play in Madden 25. Before you jump in, though, check out our Madden 25 promo list so you know what else to expect beforehand.

All Madden NFL 25 game modes

Take a look at the game modes EA has cooked up below, starting with the always-popular (and often criticized) Ultimate Team mode:

Ultimate Team

A series staple, Ultimate Team returns to Madden 25 with a few tweaks and fresh features in tow:

Weekend Gauntlet

One new addition, the Weekend Gauntlet, is exactly as its name implies: you have to play through and win 10 matches to gain exclusive rewards at the end of a run. It’s also worth noting that the first 500 players to reach 10 wins can earn a limited version of the rewards on offer.

Of course, it won’t be easy; if you lose twice, your session ends, and you’ll have to wait until the next Weekend Gauntlet to try again. Each match in this mode is played in five-minute quarters at All-Madden difficulty, so these will undoubtedly be some of the most fast-paced and competitive games on offer in Madden 25.

6-on-6 Events

Another new MUT feature is the 6-on-6 events, which, you guessed it, lets you take on other teams using six of your best players. Instead of the chaos that a typical 11-on-11 Madden match presents, you’ll have a much easier time analysing the field, organising plays, and seeing routes develop because of this mode’s smaller scale. EA has announced that the first 6-on-6 event will take place in the Fall, so stay tuned.

Solo Seasons

Finally, we have Solo Seasons, which you may already be familiar with if you’ve played College Football 25. Instead of competing with other players and their teams, it allows you to play through an entire season fully offline against AI opponents. This mode is especially ideal for casual Madden players who don’t want to go through the stress (or potential toxicity) of online matches.

Franchise

Ever dreamed of netting your favorite team its next (or first) Super Bowl win? Well, that’s what the return of Franchise mode is for, letting you live out your NFL management dreams by drafting, signing, and playing your way to prolonged success and perennial playoff appearances. Madden 25 is also introducing a new feature called dynamic storylines, that’ll make overseeing each of your team’s players more enjoyable and immersive. Plus, breakout storylines have been revamped so there’s even more to look forward to.

Superstar

The MyPlayer equivalent of Madden, Superstar mode lets you create your own player that you can bring through the ranks, from a near-irrelevant rookie to Legendary status. Before you make it into the NFL, though, you’ll have to endure the pre-draft Combine, which is now more important than ever. If you manage to ace it, your performance in front of NFL scouts can potentially give your player’s starting ratings a massive boost. Superstar mode is only available on current-gen consoles.

Online Head-to-Head (H2H)

Last but certainly not least, we have the Online Head-to-Head mode and competing against the very best Madden players will be more rewarding than ever. EA has brought rankings into H2H, so you’ll be able to climb the leaderboards with each win. Of course, you’ll be able to get prizes as you progress, thanks to the upgraded rewards system, so there’s plenty of incentive to grind those matches out. And, finally, you’ll be able to select the time of day and weather before a match (with the home team getting their choice prioritised, of course).
